What is Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0?

Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0 is a 113 KM multi-stage high-altitude endurance challenge conducted across Uttarakhand’s Sacred Tourism Circuit. The event spans three days from 17–19 April 2026, traversing Himalayan terrain across Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.

The event begins on 16th April with registration and an exhibition, followed by Day 1 (17th April) from Helang to Kalgot, Day 2 (18th April) from Kalgot to Mandal, and Day 3 (19th April) from Mandal to Ukhimath. The journey concludes on 20th April with a closing ceremony, celebrating the spirit of endurance, culture, and the Himalayas.

What is the total distance of the event?

The total distance is 113 KM, divided into three stages:

Day 1: Helang to Kalgot – 35.5 KM

Day 2: Kalgot to Mandal – 39 KM

Day 3: Mandal to Ukhimath – 38 KM

When will the event take place?

Expo & Verification: 16 April 2026 – Badrinath

Race Dates: 17–19 April 2026

Closing Ceremony: 20 April 2026 – Rudraprayag

 Is this event a marathon?

No. Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0 is a multi stage ultra endurance event conducted at high altitude. It is significantly more demanding than a standard marathon.

Who can participate?

Participants must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be medically fit for high altitude endurance activity
  • Submit required documentation
  • Complete Expo verification

Prior ultra-distance experience is strongly recommended.

Is prior ultra-running experience mandatory?

While not strictly mandatory, prior endurance or trail running experience is highly recommended due to the terrain and altitude conditions.

What type of terrain will participants run on?

The course includes:

  • Mountain roads
  • Forest trails
  • High altitude ridgelines
  • Technical trail sections
  • Village corridors

Participants should be prepared for elevation gain and uneven surfaces.

What is the highest altitude on the route?

The route passes through high altitude Himalayan terrain near regions such as Tungnath and Chopta. Participants will experience significant elevation exposure throughout the stages.

Are medical facilities available during the event?

Yes. Structured medical checkpoints, hydration stations, and emergency response teams will be deployed across all stages to ensure participant safety.

How is the event structured?

The challenge is conducted over three stages across three consecutive days,
beginning from Helang and finishing near Ukhimath, with the closing ceremony at Rudraprayag.

Who can participate in the event?

Any individual aged 18 years or above who is physically fit and capable of completing a multi-day high-altitude endurance challenge may apply.

Is prior endurance experience required?

While not mandatory, prior experience in long distance running, trekking, or endurance sports is strongly recommended due to the demanding Himalayan terrain.

What medical requirements are required for participation?

Participants must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered doctor, confirming that they are fit and not suffering from any serious illness.

Participants must also sign a self-declaration and no-claim certificate during the event verification process.

What safety arrangements are in place?

The event includes:
Medical response teams
Structured checkpoints along the route
Safety monitoring and coordination
Strict stage cut-off enforcement
All participants must follow safety instructions issued by the organizing committee.

Are participants required to follow environmental guidelines?

Yes. Participants are expected to maintain strict environmental responsibility, avoid littering, and respect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

What documents are required?

Participants must bring:

Additional forms including self-declaration, medical declaration, and waivers will be completed during Expo verification.

Is acclimatization required?

Participants are strongly encouraged to prepare for altitude conditions in advance. Proper training and acclimatization improve safety and performance.

 Are cut-off timings enforced?

Yes. Strict stagewise cut off timings will be enforced to ensure participant safety and route management.

What documents are required for registration?

Participants must submit:

  • Government issued ID
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Signed Liability Waiver
  • Medical Self-Declaration Form

Is the registration fee refundable?

Registration fees are non refundable except in cases outlined in the official Refund Policy. Please review the Refund Policy before completing registration.

Can registration be transferred to another participant?

No. Registration is strictly non transferable.

Is the event eco-friendly?

Yes. The event enforces strict environmental protocols including:

What is meant by Sacred Tourism Circuit?

The route follows corridors connected to historic pilgrimage and trade routes of Uttarakhand, including regions near Badrinath, Kalpeshwar, Tungnath, and Ukhimath. The challenge revives awareness of these cultural and spiritual pathways.

Race Cut-Off Timings

To ensure participant safety and route management, strict cut-off times will be enforced.
Stage 1 Cut-Off: 1700 hrs
Stage 2 Cut-Off: 1700 hrs
Stage 3 Cut-Off: 1700 hrs
Overall Event Cut-Off: 1900 hrs

Participants failing to meet the cut-off time may be withdrawn from the stage for safety reasons.

Where do participants report for the event?

All participants must report and complete registration at Badrinath, Uttarakhand.

The Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0 Exhibition & Registration Centre will be set up at Badrinath, where participants will complete:

  • Document verification
  • Medical declaration
  • Event briefing
  • Kit distribution

How can participants reach Badrinath?

Participants may reach Uttarakhand through the following travel routes:

By Air

Nearest airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun

By Train

Nearest major railway station: Haridwar

By Road

From Haridwar, Badrinath is approximately a 6–7 hour road journey.

Available transport options include:

  • Private taxis
  • Shared cabs
  • Government and private buses

Regular transport services operate between Haridwar / Rishikesh and Badrinath.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to Badrinath.

When must participants arrive?

All participants are required to reach Badrinath by 16 April 2026 to complete the mandatory registration and verification process.

Late arrivals may not be permitted to start the event.

What is the return arrangement after the event?

Upon completion of the event, participants will be transported by the organisers to Srinagar (Garhwal).

Departure time: 20 April 2026 at approximately 1300 hrs.

Srinagar is located approximately 3 hours from Haridwar, from where participants may continue their onward journey by road, rail, or air.
