What is Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0?
Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0 is a 113 kilometre multi-stage high altitude endurance event conducted from 17–19 April 2026 across Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts in Uttarakhand. The challenge follows historic Himalayan routes connected to the Char Dham pilgrimage network, combining endurance sport with heritage revival and eco tourism promotion.
What is the total distance of the event?
The total distance is 113 KM, divided into three stages:
Day 1: Helang to Kalgot – 35.5 KM
Day 2: Kalgot to Mandal – 39 KM
Day 3: Mandal to Ukhimath – 38 KM
When will the event take place?
Expo & Verification: 16 April 2026 – Badrinath
Race Dates: 17–19 April 2026
Closing Ceremony: 20 April 2026 – Rudraprayag
Is this event a marathon?
No. Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0 is a multi stage ultra endurance event conducted at high altitude. It is significantly more demanding than a standard marathon.
Who can participate?
Participants must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Be medically fit for high altitude endurance activity
- Submit required documentation
- Complete Expo verification
Prior ultra-distance experience is strongly recommended.
Is prior ultra-running experience mandatory?
While not strictly mandatory, prior endurance or trail running experience is highly recommended due to the terrain and altitude conditions.
What type of terrain will participants run on?
The course includes:

Participants should be prepared for elevation gain and uneven surfaces.
What is the highest altitude on the route?
The route passes through high altitude Himalayan terrain near regions such as Tungnath and Chopta. Participants will experience significant elevation exposure throughout the stages.
Are medical facilities available during the event?
Yes. Structured medical checkpoints, hydration stations, and emergency response teams will be deployed across all stages to ensure participant safety.
Is acclimatization required?
Participants are strongly encouraged to prepare for altitude conditions in advance. Proper training and acclimatization improve safety and performance.
Are cut-off timings enforced?
Yes. Strict stagewise cut off timings will be enforced to ensure participant safety and route management.
What documents are required for registration?
Participants must submit:
